Mike Tyson's celebrity persona no doubt, generates many responses pro or con (mostly con). Here is a man, who at one time was at the top of his profession, with many adoring fans. This heavyweight boxer stood at the brink of unparrelled comparison (only to Ali). Tyson chose to go another way. One shoudn"t lament how or why this has happened. A fair analogy has already been offered up in a previous post: I'm thinking the blows he's been taking through his nose are more to blame.

Kronk has unfortunately joined the list of other Detroit mainstays: Tiger Stadium, The Olympia, J.L. Hudsons, Strohs Brewery, Motown Records etc... It's sad to see them go. Hopefully the Kronk Gym will find another home in the metro Detroit area and continue to produce champions. I forgot to mention the Silverdome, the greatest venue for Monster Trucks (certainly not for football).

So many repeat winners, It seems that the Gold Glove awards do go to too many past recipients. My list: P Jake Westbrook CLE C Ivan Rodriguez DET 1B Mark Teixeira TEX 2B Mark Grudzielanek KC 3B Mike Lowell BOS SS Michael Young TEX OF Grady Sizemore CLE Curtis Granderson DET Ichiro Suzuki SEA These picks were based on my interpretation of the stats. Which of course are open for debate. But, it would be good to see other winners who truly deserve the award for their performance based on the season at hand and not past accomplishments.

Tony Gonzalez breaks tight end touchdown record.
Tony G is the epitome of the tight end. Charlie Sanders & John Mackey still have a place in my heart though.
