This week jerseygirl inches closer to wfrazerjr after swapping positions with oliver crunk all week. High Riser: The Eppin' Outs gained an impressive 29 points this week, which is good considering that yerfatma lost 35 points last week. Talk about up and down. Falling Fast: Los Colecos gave up 26 points to the field. YukonGold falls back into the basement.

I plan to keep going up and down, up and down until I'm near the finish line. And then boom!

I predict I will make a grand total of ten moves all season.

Just be thankful I didn't join your Sportsline league.

I'm getting a bunch of Armando Benitez trade offers between this league and the Yahoo league. I'd trade him in a heartbeat if I had any other reliable closers.

confession: i get confused between the leagues.

Me too. Next year I'll just play one.

I'm getting pretty good at doing two. Last year I did 4 which was way too much, but 2 fills the need pretty well. I like both of my teams, but I wish Rocco in the yahoo league wouldn't got 0fer8 in double headers.

I'm getting a bunch of Armando Benitez trade offers between this league and the Yahoo league. I just remembered that I put him on the block in the Yahoo league. That explains all the trade offers! *smacks head*

I don't know if it was this league or the other one, but I offered Jim Edmonds for him and got shut down. I mean, damn!

I offered someone for him. Furcal I think. Shot down with that one. Screw closers! I picked up Rafael Betancourt today, so at least I have a pitcher that might get a save chance. If I get 1 out of him I'll be surprised.

hey jasonspaceman, tell your pal gunboats to share some of that save love! Here's what he's got: Cordero, Francisco 10 Graves, Danny 10 Rhodes, Arthur 6 Biddle, Rocky 5 Kolb, Danny 5 He could deal 3 of those guys and greatly better his team and give some of starved for saves a chance in that catagory.

wfrazerjr, you don't need saves in the Yahoo league! You've got only one less than me.

I have my reasons, baby ... :)

Let's see... you plan to trade for a closer because the player you really want is on a team that needs saves. How did I do?
posted by dusted at 10:58 PM on May 03, 2004
Ummm, that's a good thought, but no, I really want Benitez for my team.

I'm now tied with Pivo, and I'm gunning for Colecos.

if they lose tonight, perhaps. i'm not calling off the season, mind you, but jesus, hit something boston, hit something! offense offense offense!

I feel the same way. It's still too early to panic, but it hasn't been fun to watch. The A's have had some heartbreaking losses, especially last night's crap sandwich against the Yankees. We've always been able to count on great starting pitching, but not this season (although the "weak" spots, Harden and Redman, have been better than expected). The offense has been horrible and the game management by Macha, ummm... interesting.

not to rain on boston's parade....but with nomar and trot out i'm really not all that suprised. last year all the slightly above average players had incredible seasons. there ain't going to be that kind of production again. it just can't be sustained. regardless, they're still hitting like shit.
posted by oliver_crunk at 03:42 PM on May 05, 2004
I hate nights when all my teams lose. Hey jerseygirl, when is Nomar coming back? At least my fantasy team might improve then.

He's taking it slow, which is fine. Nixon should be back this month. My concern, and this extends to Nixon too, is if its going to take a while for them to get back in the swing when they do come back.
posted by jerseygirl at 12:12 PM on May 06, 2004
Fine if you're a Red Sox fan... not fine if Nomar was your #1 fantasy team pick. Screw long term, I need hitting! I have a gift. By the second week of every season in every sport, I have four guys on the DL. It must be Doyle's Law.
