The Discovery Health special is highly recommended, it outlines not only his pituitary gland tumors, but also his basketball development. Watch a clip.

This reminds me of when Ted Turner bought the Braves. he said it was expensive for a baseball team, but cheap for a television series.

The article points out that college basketball and football could not be bumped from the schedule, and both draw many more viewers than hockey, unfortunately. I'm not sure that the heritage game would be a good fit for ABC Family...

Mario Lemieux is the pity for the Pittsburgh fans... his only concern is dollar signs.

Lemieux will play for his own financial reasons. If he plays, the team has more value and a better chance at securing a new arena from the city of Pittsburgh. Plus, the man can still play when healthy. Theo needs a change of scenery, he's burned his bridges in Chicago. He can still be a vital part of a team, especially if he doesn't have to shoulder the burden of being the "go to" guy. Mess needs only a couple of points to pass Gordie Howe for second on the NHL points list, I'd love to see him do it in Edmonton then hang up the skates. Even with his diminished skills he's a powerful force in the locker room and could teach a young team much.

Tverdovsky will more than make up for the Leafs' loss of Svehla (when Svehla is finally bought out), Wesley leaves a bigger hole that will have to be filled from within the system or by trade.

Sometimes he's even hated by his own teammates and coach, just ask the Avs and Marc Crawford.

The NHL's Nashville Predators promised to refund their season ticket price increase this year if the team fails to make the playoffs.

I agree, Clarkie will stay and there will be a major shakeup (hopefully a speedy offensive dman and an end to the goaltending controversy). Barber should go, he's lost the respect and control of the team. I don't think the players are as much underachieving as they are overrated. Anyone who saw them play this year could tell you the defense was suspect (see: Therien, Desjarduns and McGillis, and Johnsson wore down towards the end of the year) and the team was held together (again) by strong goaltending. Roenick is not going to bring you a title...

The Rangers make another deal, moving Mike York to the Oilers for Rem Murray and the beleaguered Tom Poti. This is a great chance for Poti, who was a scapegoat in Edmonton, to understudy with Brian Leetch. It's a sideways move for York, though.

Sports Broadcasting Legend Jim McKay Dies
I will always remember his enthusiasm during his coverage of the Olympics, truly a great man.
