A dark day as National Lacrosse League cancels 2008 season.

Thanks Hugh, that makes a lot of sense.

A dark day as National Lacrosse League cancels 2008 season.

It’s interesting that there are several leagues for admittedly a minor sport. It’s a shame that the ownership groups from the various leagues could not come together to develop a stronger product. I wonder if too many egos were involved. The salaries are low, if I graduated from four year college on a Lacrosse scholarship it would be hard too take the $6,880 rookie salary, although it would be more fun than most entry level jobs.

Jimmy Kimmel Banned From Monday Night Football

Just Gary I agree with you, Howard Cosell who I have to admit was a little before my time wrote a book titled I Never Played the Game where he coined the word "jockocracy" to describe how athletes were given announcing jobs that they had not earned. I am not sure if Cosell was a great broadcaster as I have only seen replays of his performances. However, it seems people have forgotten that broadcasting at its best is a form of journalism and not just entertainment. You need to understand the who what where and when, and how to write a compelling and informative story. If you have played the sport being covered it will give you some insight, but it does not guarantee that you will be able to intelligently and effectively convey that to an audience.

Rockies Going to World Series

Two things that always seems to be proven every postseason, one is that yes the postseason is a bit of a crapshoot, with any hot team having the ability to streak its way to a championship but more importantly, fans tend to overvalue the players/team they watch every day and undervalue the competition. As someone who primarily watches the Yankees / Redsox all season I had no idea how impressive the Cleveland Indians relief pitchers were and to be honest I don’t think I could have named more then 3 or 4 players on the Rockies entire squad. Obviously the Rockies have proven themselves to be a very good team on a historic run. I wonder how the long wait for game 1 of the World Series will affect them?

Yankees Broadcaster Suzyn Waldman Cries on the Air

I apologize to all I may have offended, but it seemed to bizarre comparison. I will take it from you Jerseygirl that I was way off. Waldman is the ultimate homer, and seems to have an extremely close relationship to the team.

Yankees Broadcaster Suzyn Waldman Cries on the Air

She has been part of the organization for 20 years and she will not work for any other team Yukon, I agree this is a generalization, but as has been confirmed she has been a covering the Yankees closely for 20 years. So is Jerry Remy, but he wasn't crying on air after a heartbreaking loss in 2003 and the Grady Little era was coming to an end. Are you actually comparing the Grady Little era to Joe Torre’s run as a Yankee manager or are you just trolling?

Yankees Broadcaster Suzyn Waldman Cries on the Air

I understand Yankee haters dislike Paul O'Neill, but to Yankee fans he is beloved. (The chanting of his name during his last game at Yankee stadium Game 5? 2001 world series as a perfect example) I know I loved him as a player because he seemed to care about winning more then any fan and like a fan he showed his emotions. I like the comparison to Youkalis and as a Yankee fan I would like to have some emotional players like that on the 2007 Yankees. I think you need players like that over a long season. As far a Susan Waldman she is a homer and that is what you should expect from a homer. She has been part of the organization for 20 years and she will not work for any other team. That said the crying was a little much.
