Ah, the sweet smell of a warm summer afternoon, the wind softly blowing through the trees and running across the centerfield grass kicking a soccer ball around with my friends. Now, more than ever, I look forward to that moment. How long until summer gets here?

The anology doesn't really make sense Familyman. Comparing skipping out on half your work hours to playing blackjack in a casino is a little overboard. Personally I would love to work for a company that realizes that it's got a rule that is ridiculous and changes it, and maybe the NBA should analyze some other of their rules, not gonna mention any specifics (see mars1's post).

I can't understand how Barry Glendenning, in the link provided by yerfatma, can attack Paddy Power for doing what a sponsor does. Sponsors provide money for publicity, that's just the way it works. If he wants to take on the horrible ways sponsors make a mockery of the players why doesn't he write an article about soccer where logos are placed right on the jersey. Let's read something about Samsung's "matey high-jinx" with Chelsea fc.

I'm beginning to wonder if I'm the only one who actually watches Jeter play. When he makes a play behind second base what is that a result of? I think that would be reffered to as range. And I'm definitely not saying the jump 'n' throw move is called for everytime, I am saying that when it is necessary it is almost always successful. And even if you're playing deep in the hole, if you end up in left field you had to run a fairly long way, farther than you would for most balls hit to the short stop.

dj sko = Derek Jeter, Sexy Kalamazoo Overlord Haha. Damn you got me. Talking range factor though, I've seen Jeter snag balls from the outfield and make the play at first many times, as I'm sure many of you have as well. As a matter of fact on pretty much every highlight reel I see nowadays there is always a play of Jeter doing his jump, twist, and throw out the runner at first from shallow left field.

I can't understand how anyone would be baffled by Jeter being one of the best defensive shortstops of all time. His fielding percentage is right up there with Aparicio's, Belanger's, and Concepcion's with only Belanger having a higer one. Plus on top of the fielding percentage the guy is willing to go out there and kill himself to make a play and has some of the best defensive awareness any one will ever see.

I'm not making any accusations here or anything like that and I don't want you to think this is motivated by anti-bonds sentiment or anything like that. That said I think more specific stats than just the number of homeruns would have to be observed for this to be a more powerful argument. For instance when Bonds became known as a dangerous hitter, teams pitched around him more often and therefore he walked more giving him less AB's. So if it were the case that he was getting less AB's and more HR's then the numbers could support him using steroids. Nicely done though, I like the effort and the research.

I don't even know where to begin. I'm not sure if you've ever heard the phrase "if it offends one person that's too many people," of course that's an exaggeration but when you've offended an entire group of people it's time to change. The term "PC" gets kicked around too much these days by people trying to remove the legitimacy from an issue. Somebody complains about something being PC and everybody jumps on board to start complaining about forced thought. The fact of the matter is this is incredibly degrading to a people with a rich cultural heritage and I'm sorry deeznuts but I don't quite see the similarities between the religious rituals the Native Americans participated in and some guy running up and down the court when a basketball team wins a game. Furthermore the point you made about it being part of our American history doesn't seem to be well thought out either, last I checked colleges offer history classes on Native American culture as do many high schools so I don't know where this "sweep it under the rug like it didn't happen" nonsense comes from and there is absolutely no historical relevance in what Chief Illiniwek does. The same result can be gathered by a guy with a big "I" painted on his chest. If you want a history lesson you take a class or read a book you don't go to a basketball game.

I also agree with urall cloolis 100%. This is not the same as a human deciding to participate in a dangerous sport. These dogs are forced into it and the treatment they receive in return is horrifying in many cases. www.helpsleddogs.org has some great information on the Iditarod and the Mush with P.R.I.D.E organization

This really is an amazing and incredibly worthwhile program...especially given the way the NFL has a tendency to just brush off former players who really need help, both physically and financially. I hope people will realise that not every football player made millions of dollars playing and give a little to help out.

South Korean soccer players dislocate their shoulders to become draft dodgers
Maybe they should've dislocated their knees, they'd get out of the draft and off the soccer team.
