Steven Wells: How about pre-empting the bloggers' reaction to this latest blog before they've even read the darn thing?
I dislike the use of the word "blog" when the meaning intended is "post". That is all.

The Guardian's football podcast uses "blog" to refer to something that must actually be a message board and its postings. It's so disconcerting. On preview: of course, a sentence with the words "podcast", "blog" and "message board" would be quite disconcerting to visitors from 10 years ago.

The best part is that if you scroll down quickly, you can't tell where Wells ends and the readers begin. We can add this to our "Steven Wells File" on SpoFi.

I thought it was hilarious. And couldn't agree more with qbert and yerfatma -- good blogging there, fellas.

Look for this in a Rick Reilly column soon. I don't think this kind of thing can ever be successful. The only way it wouldn't feel like sour grapes is if the writer were funny enough that he would be writing somewhere other than a sports page.
