CFL Pick 'Em, Week 18: Three weeks to go and we've got ourselves a horse race. argoal and JPR are going out with a bang, keeping us all entertained while the actual CFL standings just have us plain confused. Grab your crossover calculator and make your picks inside.

It was messy, but Hamilton wins ugly against Ottawa to stay in a tie for first. Also ugly: Toronto's offence, which can't find the end zone all night as they drop the game, and first place, to Montreal. Calgary survives a late scare to clinch the division with a win over Winnipeg, while Edmonton's sittin' pretty in second with a win over Saskatchewan.

Margin of Error7 to 136 to 107 to 134 to 7

It's tooth and nail for the top two: JPR nails the Hamilton game to threaten, but argoal hits three margins to keep pace and stay on top.

WEEK 18

Some interesting playoff scenarios shaping up. If you're in the East, replace "interesting" with "horrifying" as a crossover looms.

Montreal @ Ottawa (Friday, October 24)
Nobody is more surprised than Montreal to find themselves tied for first, and with a short trip down the 417, they could take another step towards securing that first round bye. Ottawa's toast, of course, but beware the youth? Maybe?

Saskatchewan @ Calgary (Friday, October 24)
How the mighty have fallen. With Winnipeg's loss, Saskatchewan has clinched a playoff berth, but will an out-of-retirement Kerry Joseph carry them far in November? For that matter, can he even win a single game against a resting Calgary squad? I guess we'll find out this week.

Hamilton @ Toronto (Saturday, October 25)
Ouch: Toronto's fallen off the pace for the East division lead, and find themselves potential crossover victims. But Hamilton's the team they're chasing, and they shocked the Ti-Cats a couple weeks back. That said, Toronto's been lucky if not good, and if they want to stay alive they'll need to switch that up a bit.

B.C. @ Winnipeg (Saturday, October 25)
Winnipeg extends their losing streak to seven in a row. If they make it eight, B.C.'s got themselves a playoff berth.

Good luck!

I have to stem the free fall. This week - the Gough Whitlam Memorial Edition.

Montreal by 15 over the capital city. Vincent Lingiari led the Wave Hill walk off. He was a stockman (or Rough Rider to you) so Saskatchewan by 12. In the biggest city, so Toronto by 11. BC by 21? Yes. It's time.

In the interests of our continuing education, a number of topical questions will be posed with this week's selections. Can you answer them?

Montreal at Ottawa: Does the Ottawa name have anything to do with this question, "What goes into the water black and comes out red?" I really don't know about that, but I do know that Larks are not confused by colors. Montreal by 7.

Saskatchewan at Calgary: Reminds me of the question "What always goes to bed with its shoes on?" This one is easy, especially when related to the names of these 2 teams. Neither team will fall asleep during this game. It could be a barn burner, in which case sleeping arrangements will be disrupted. Chances are that uncontrollable rampaging quadrupeds would not be shod anyway. Calgary by 4.

Hamilton at Toronto: A man was driving a black car. His lights were not on, there was no moonlight, and a cat was in the middle of the road. How did the man know to stop the car? The Argonauts had a boat, not a car, but the idea is the same. There's a Tigercat in the road. Of course, they do want to run over the cat, but the cat will fight back. Will the cat's efforts save its life? Sadly, not this time, but don't forget that the cat has 9 lives. Toronto by 5.

BC at Winnipeg: A murderer is condemned to death. He has to choose between three rooms. The first is full of raging fires, the second is full of assassins with loaded guns, and the third is full of lions that haven't eaten in 3 years. Which room is safest for him? The correct answer would be room 3, but the reasons for it do not apply to the BC species of lion. Their diet will be augmented by blue bomber meat. BC by 14.
