Well, how 'bout that? Hamilton stands up to the big boys and beats Montreal at home. Calgary brings the Eskimos back down to earth. Toronto gets the job done in the 'Peg, while B.C. cools down the Lions.

And how 'bout this? bender nails the Hamilton win to take a commanding lead.

Bring in the harvest, because it's time for Canadian Thanksgiving football! For beginners, the primary difference is that American Thanksgiving has four courses while Canadian has only three. Also, the giblets can be in motion before the snap.

WEEK 15

Hamilton @ Edmonton (Friday, October 5)
Here's a key playoff battle. There's a lot of season left, but if Edmonton can hold off the Ti-Cats, they find themselves in prime crossover position.

Calgary @ B.C. (Saturday, October 6)
And look at this! A Calgary win moves them into a tie for first place. Is the shine coming off the Lions?

Winnipeg @ Montreal (Monday, October 8)
Montreal may look just a bit vulnerable, but remember that they place Winnipeg twice more this season.

Saskatchewan @ Toronto (Monday, October 8)
Just another game between two teams tryin' to scrape by and move on up.

How anyone in Canada can be thinking about football in the wake of a theft from the strategic reserve of a critical commodity is beyond me. This is a matter that can have worldwide implications. How Canada will recover is open to question. How I will be able to hit all the possible points and make a serious attempt at pickem domination is not open to question, and if it happens, should be subject to the same sort of investigation that is being applied to the heist. So the giblets can be in motion before the snap. The first time I tried making giblet gravy for Thanksgiving dinner, the giblets were in motion before I started cooking them. I need to get my giblets in motion and make some picks.

Hamilton at Edmonton: The only 2 cities in the league whose names end in 'ton' meet. Who will have a ton of fun and who will have a ton of adversity? Each went against form last week, Hamilton with a big win and Edmonton with a surprising (to me at least) loss. They revert to form this week, as the Eskimos put the Tiger Cats into a very tight igloo. Edmonton by 12.

Calgary at BC: It almost looks like the Lions have not been paying a lot of attention over the last 3 weeks. They've won two close ones, but lost to Saskatchewan last week. Nothing is more dangerous than a hungry cat (at least that's what my 3 new ones are trying to tell me), so I'll go with that. BC by 18.

Winnipeg at Montreal: Blue Bombers season has resembled a see-saw, up then down then up again. When I was a kid, my favorite trick was to let the guy on the other end get up to the top, and then jump off quickly and watch him bounce. Fortunately I was young enough that being hit between the legs with the see-saw didn't hurt like it would now. The Bombers might be high up for this one, but the Alouettes will jump off the board and bring them crashing down. Montreal by 9.

Saskatchewan at Toronto: Rough Riders since Labor Day weekend have been quietly putting together a pretty good season. Toronto over the same span has been a bit inconsistent. Argonauts are at home for this one, so they deserve a bit of an edge for that. Look for Toronto to hold on for the win by 3.
