Rangers Sign Beltre to $96 Million, 6-Year Deal: Third baseman Adrian Beltre signed a six-year, $96-million deal Wednesday with the Texas Rangers, a move that will shift Michael Young to a new position for the third time in his career.
Will you still feel that way in 2016?

The future is now. Or at least next year.

I get your point, fatty, but word on the Twitter wire is "Beltre 6th yr valid w/600 PAs in '15 or 1,200 in '14-15." (cite)
But really, I'm not sure how long the R's are going to be able to keep the young talent they have together anyhow, so the next couple of seasons are probably their best chance to win.

He's had one monster year and a bunch of other pretty good ones. This is what $16M buys in this market, I guess.

After Beltre came to the Mariners from the Dodgers (after a HUGE season), his batting average plummeted. His fielding at the corner was pretty much beyond reproach. But the lumber was not so much good. He had more than one sub .200 month as I recall. Not to say that this is what he'll do in Texas after coming off of another monstrous year in Boston. I'm just sayin', is all.
Also all I'm sayin' is that hopefully he has learned to wear a cup, too.

Good move by Texas, great contract for Beltre. 6 years is about 2 too many in my opinion, but who can really predict the future. The only drawback is Michael Young being asked once again to switch position. If I remember, he was not real happy when he was asked to go to 3rd, and he has publicly said that he would rather not move again. Will he accept the move for the good of the team, or will he become disgruntled* and cause some disruption? In any case, Texas is a better team for having signed Beltre.
*If a disgruntled player is traded to another team and then becomes happy, can he be said to have been "regruntled"? How does one go about being "gruntled" in the first place? I've always wondered about the use of "disgruntled".

I look at the term disgruntled much in the same way as I do the term dislodged.
Simply stated, to be disgruntled means that your gruntle has somehow come out of allignment.

What if you're a rear wheel drive sort of guy?
And Michael Young's gruntle ceased to be of any concern around 2008.

I'm a 4X4 guy myself. But I couldn't vouch for a man's gruntle in any case.
