CFL Pick 'Em, Week 7: Four close games last week mean big points for some, not so much for others. Find out what side of the divide you were on and make your picks inside.

Did you include the points from last week? My score has gone down. I know I'm not very good, but I don't think I'm that bad.

Whoops, sorry kids. I must've hit "Paste" instead of "Paste Values". Good catch.

Schultzie weighs in this week with these picks:
The fact that the Lions are going in to Regina with the Riders coming off a road loss last week won't make it easy on Jackson who will be making his first start of the season. Saskatchewan by 14.
Buck bounces the Blue Bombers back this week. Winnipeg by 4.
Assuming that Calvillo starts/plays this week, Montreal by 4.
The 5-1 Stamps are just more good than the good 1-5 Esks. Calgary by 6.

From all I've read so far, this is the best "injury" or trade/release/signing report I can muster:
Jarious Jackson (BC) starts at QB.
Fred Stamps (EDM) has MRI and will be out for min. 2 weeks (shoulder).
Alexis Serna (WIN) released. Import kicker Louie Sakoda signed.
Still no sure word on QBs Darian Durant (SK), Buck Pierce (WIN), or Anthony Calvillo (MON) who were banged up a bit or out last week.
I'm on this awesome CFLNews list-serve that sends all of the articles on the CFL from around the country each day. I will advise when I hear anything official on the QBs.*
*Maybe eliminate the need for asterisks on some picks ;) ... but sure hasn't helped me this season though???

SportSelect PointSpreads for this week are:
SK -81/2
WPG -21/2
MON -71/2
CAL -91/2
Am I just having a brain fart, or is this the first time SportSelect is letting us bet on the NFL preseason?

You know, Jarious Jackson (now that he's supposedly back to full form) can be a "big play" quarterback. BC has some big play receivers. I think this one could be a high-scoring affair, because the Riders can give 'em up, but they'll also be a motivated football club at Mosaic this week. The over/under is only at 541/2, so I'd pick over. As the final gun fires though, Roughriders by 8.
The final time Winnipeg and Hamilton play each other this year (I'm going to say it's very doubtful they'd face each other in the playoffs), thank goodness. They are pretty evenly matched teams. I kind of goofed it last week pickin' the Bombers. I should stick with my overall sense that Hamilton is the better of the two ball clubs. Gosh, I hope I'm right this week. Burlington Bobcats by 13.
I do think it's bullshit that nobody has said anything more about whether Calvillo is going to play. Either way, I'm gonna go out on a limb here. I do think that the Argos have something to prove in this one--to themselves, to the Larks, and to the league. Riding the tails of a rookie QB, they're legit so far. And honestly, I just wanna see anybody but Montreal in the Grey Cup this year. Plant the seeds now that they're beatable in the east. Argonauts by 11.
Can't do it. I just can't do it. Normally, that would mean that I just can't pick a Calgary win over Edmonton. But this year it means that I just can't pick Edmonton to win in the state they're in. Oh the pain ... OH the pain! Stampeders OUCH! by 28. Please prove me wrong EE, please!!!
p.s. argoal, I really can't see the 'cats leaving Steeltown, but from what I have been able to follow about the whole deal, the city council decision to favor the downtown stadium just doesn't make any sense. Somehow, somebody has got to see the light, and a compromise will be reached on the location. Let them go ahead with downtown arena project (Katz led or not) and land a hockey franchise sometime. The Tabbies need to be reached by their peeps from around that area. In the end, though, you just never know. I'm a guy who still can't get his head around how Ottawa couldn't/cannot support a CFL franchise???

Um, no, those aren't YYM's picks in my pocket. Uh uh. But whatever it is, Sara Orlesky put it there.
Okay okay, I know that was offside ... we're better than that here at SpoFi. Just throwing back to "locker room" talk the way it used to be.

ARTICLE BY Glen Suitor; Hamilton Council did nothing for Young & Cats. The Hamilton city council has spoken - the Hamilton Tiger-Cats are not important to the city's politicians.
By voting 12-3 in favour of the West Harbour site - the location that's been the obsession of the city's Mayor since the process began - the municipal government's message is that the football team and all its great history and tradition can stay or go and they really could care less one way or the other...

In an early-season clash of titans, Montreal hangs on for the win over the 'Riders. Toronto and Edmonton trade comebcks, but Toronto gets the final word and the one-point victory. Hamilton puts together a tidy divisional win at home, and Calgary holds off B.C. to do the same.
It was a hit-or-miss week: a good number of spreads nailed, but also some one-point hauls for some. Weedy jumps into second with a six-point week, but argoal's four points are holding him off... for now.
The division play mirrors each division's standings to date: clear favourites out west, not so much back east.
WEEK 7
B.C. @ Saskatchewan (Thursday, August 12) B.C. is in tough: 1-5 and heading into the hardest place to play in the league. They are not going to be a popular pick this week.
Hamilton @ Winnipeg (Friday, August 13) These two teams continue to fight to get out of the basement as they finish off the home-and-home. Winnipeg gets a home edge, but Hamilton has the momentum from last week: ergo, total coin toss.
Montreal @ Toronto (Saturday, August 14) Toronto is a surprising 4-2, but they won't get any credit until they can give Montreal a good game. They have a chance to do that at home, but can anyone stop Montreal right now?
Edmonton @ Calgary (Sunday, August 15) A tough home loss last week, and now heading south to face the 5-1 Stampeders. Can Edmonton pull off the big upset?
Good luck!
