This week I answer readers' letters. Toronto by 11. Here's one from a David B. of Leytonstone. Calgary by 15. He asks why women wear makeup and use perfume. BC by 7. That's easy, David. It's because they're ugly and they smell. Edmonton by 4.

Do you think he knows that he's in the cellar after Week One here at SpoFi's CFL Pick 'em? I mean after all, he is picking against the World.
For this week, Schultzie says:
Winnipeg by 10
Hamilton by 1
BC by 4
Montreal by 7

I am the Ruler of All things Canadian...curse you, Weedy!
(I think he's on the meth...no, that's too American to be cool in Canada...forget I said anything about the fact that Weedy smokes meth.)

Bombers totally impressed me last week. Argos met my expectations--they're lousy. Can't see this even being close: Winnie by 27.
This one kinda makes me go hmmm ... the Hammer kinda stunk it up last week. And as much as it hurts to say it, Calgary could be better than I thought ... always dangerous, to say the least. It's a bit of a coin-toss, this one. But to get off the fence, I'm thinking that the Tabbies will be better this week. TiCats by 10.
BC favored? Really? Sure the Esks let 'em run wild on 'em a few times, but did oddsmakers not see the Riders' performance last week? Green (not that they need distinction in this CFL era)Riders by 21.
For the man who goes by the moniker "Superfan" at Commonwealth, I can't even begin to express how frustrating and disappointing it is to walk into that hallowed stadium thinking that the Green & Gold are gonna get a whoopin' hung on 'em. But after their performance last week, what else could I think? Montreal's no pushover. If the Eskie's offense can't get firing on all cylinders, this one could be u-g-l-y. For the fans' sake, I'm hoping that they can at least make it believably close. Sorry EE, gotta say Larks by 8.

The boys from big mosquito country over the Lemons by 11 (that's tonight's game). Saturday should see Buress and buddies slipping past the Tiggers by 4 while BC remains undefeated, edging Sask by 3. That just leaves Mtl,still smarting from last week's loss, to clobber Edm by 14.
Which I think means:
Winnipeg by 11
Calgary by 4
BC by 3
Montreal by 14

AAAARRRRGGGGOOOOSSSS! Good performance. I almost got the double win; an Argo win + the 9 point difference. Oh well, I'll take the Argo's win anytime.

Sandro DeAngelis just boots a FG to put his current team over his former team by two with just over a minute to go. Burris is on the march back to about midfield. Well outta their newbies FG range ... for now.

Week one of the headsets-in-helmets era and how 'bout that offense? Saskatchewan and Montreal combine for 105 points in an epic rematch of last year's Grey Cup, Winnipeg puts the beat-down on Hamilton, and Calgary bends 30 points out of Toronto's D. The Lions were a little less end-zone-happy, but six boots from Paul McCallum's foot gets the job done against Edmonton.
And looky here, them headsets increased offense in our little pool as well. Four spreads nailed in one week? Seven points out of the gate for The_Black_Hand? Three more players tied for second with five? Crazy stuff y'all! (Me, I look forward to another vintage TBH-Weedy battle.)
Drama ensues as [insert team name here] looks to either [keep their winning streak going] or [even up their record].
WEEK 2
Toronto @ Winnipeg (Friday, July 9) If nothing else, this game should be a good measure of whether Toronto is better than Hamilton. And isn't that the question on everybody's minds?
Calgary @ Hamilton (Saturday, July 10) Calgary will be the favourites, as Hamilton has done nothing to shed their permanent underdog status. But watch out! Calgary's consistency is, as always, in question.
Saskatchewan @ BC (Saturday, July 10) B.C. always plays tough at home, but something tells me they'll need to find the end zone if they want to beat the Riders.
Montreal @ Edmonton (Sunday, July 11) Tough early schedule for the Esks. First they can't get anything going against B.C., and now Anthony Calvillo's rejuvenated arm comes to town. But maybe they get the edge if they can get another good performance out of their D this week.
Good luck!
