CFL Pick 'Em, Week 10: The bye weeks come to a merciful end. Sure, the games were OK, but nobody scored any points! We're back up to four games this week, so get out your multiplication tables and make your picks inside.

Schultzie's picks are in:
Montreal by 5
Saskatchewan by 7
Hamilton by 2
Calgary by 1
I'd just like to hear the Big Guy's thoughts on Nik Lewis as offensive player of the week over Arkee Whitlock. I mean I know this is an Eskimo fan talkin', but the man scored THREE hard-fought touchdowns. Guess throwin' a mean block counts more these days.

A chicken and a duck are standing on the side of the Trans Canada Highway. Montreal by 7. The chicken says "I'm going to cross the road". Saskatchewan by 12. The duck replies "I wouldn't do that." Toronto by 14. The chicken asks "Why?. Edmonton by 12. The duck answers "Because we'll never hear the end of it."

With only 4 pts. separating 1st and 10th, I'd just like to say that this Pick 'Em race is more exciting than the CFL East by a longshot!

I just can't see the Lions (who I see destined for last in the west) can pull off the upset this week. Montreal (clearly the winner of the east) is just too darn good right now. It is under the dome though, so I think the Lions can keep it close. And by "close" I mean Montreal by 8.
Winnipeg sure did find their running game last time out. And, despite all of the off-field attention on the Adam Jones rumours, I think they will come into this one quite well-prepared. That said, however, the Riders are tough at home. Perhaps the best game of the week to be the "nailbiter" we've come to love and expect in the CFL ... not a bad way to get the hype going for the Banjo Bowl either. I'll take the Riders by 2.
Hamilton is good, but the Argos aren't "that bad" either. Something wonky has to happen on Labour Day, so I'll go out on a limb and say this could be the upset of the week. Tabbies lost a heartbreaker last week in E-town. Another loss in the Big Smoke will be the last in their mid-season slump. But this does not mean the Argos go on a roll after this. One time and this time only ... Argos by 15.
Don't get me wrong ... I'll be cheerin' my face off for the EE on Monday ... and wouldn't be surprised if they take this one without much ado. However, that would set up a reeeeeeally pissed-off (can I say that here?) Stamps squad for the rematch on Friday. With 50,000+ likely on-hand for the return match on Friday ... there's NO WAY the Stamps can win that one. And I just don't think they're bad enough for the Esks, as well as they're playing right now, to sweep 'em in the season series. That means they take this one at home. They are favoured after all ... Calgary by 10.

With only two pickers taking BC, I'm not gonna make this at all about the effect on the standings in here ... but the reffing in the final minutes of the game at BC Place were TERRIBLE! I mean TERRIBLE (or, as Charles Barkley would say, TURBLE!)
They made big strides last year. But en masse they are back to square one. Game Management 101 ... know how to handle the end of game. Can't wait to hear how Higgins responds to this one. First play--clearly a time-out was called. Second play? WTF??? The clock I'm sure was reset. Somebody got trigger-happy and they tried to get away with a do-over.
TURBLE ... just TURBLE.
Ironic thing is that you can see Wally givin' it to the ref even when it worked in his favour. He's a class act. You gotta love Wally.

By the seat of their pants: Edmonton wins on a long field goal at home, while Toronto does not.
Tight games in a bye week mean very little movement in the standings. If you're reading this, you probably got 2 points.
Back to a full slate of games—long weekend games, natch!
WEEK 10
Montreal @ B.C. (Friday, September 4) B.C. has strung together a couple of wins, but will have a tough time preserving that string against a rested Alouettes squad.
Winnipeg @ Saskatchewan (Sunday, September 6) The Bombers come to town, maybe with a new teammate. Taylor Field is a harsh welcome for any visiting newcomer. Take the Riders to cover.
Toronto @ Hamilton (Monday, September 7) The Labour Day Classic! Except that Hamilton is actually the favourite this time. Now THAT's classic.
Edmonton @ Calgary (Monday, September 7) The Ralph Klein Klassic! Unlike Ralph's election victories, this one has gotta be a coin toss.
Good luck!
