Injured Johnson Pulls Out, Gets Bent In.: Only England soccer aficionados will get it. But it's a good headline no less.

It's a bit of a shame for AJ to miss out on the possiblity of an England spot when he's been on such good form. I'm sure Darren Bent will be an able replacement to sit on the bench and watch Crouch and Rooney though.

Crouchie has been in fine form at the CL and international levels. Pity he hasn't played much in the EPL this season.

How conveniant to pull his hamstring at the "last minute". Questionable to me.

Convenient? I think I know what you're trying to say here, but Andy Johnson isn't an American NBA star. I suspect Johnson would kill Darren Bent for the chance to play for his country. Or at least rough him up a little. Maybe call him a bad name. There are some high-profile "retirees" from international football - Scholes, Makelele - and if this was a friendly and Johnson played for Man United you might, might, have something. But for the most part English players consider it an absolute honour to represent their country.

Johnson withdraws? Surely they know that that's not the most reliable method.
