Mavs win! Mavs win!: Or at least, that's DaveSez's ironclad prediction, based on... the number of ACC alums on each team. Fun little analysis, if perhaps a little skewed by a certain UNC guy.

Dallas has far too deep a bench for Miami. The Mavs will win, but it'll take 6 or 7 games to do it.

Having witnessed each team's history, there's no way you can say either one is a lock in this series. If Shaq is feeling good, the Heat will definitely stetch the series to it's limit and maybe win. Hopefully they'll put someone to play just a little defense on Dirk, unlike the ridiculous Suns.

On another related topic, I'd love to see the bash (and gifts) Mark Cuban puts together should the Mavs give him a championship. I'm sure it would be out of this world!

Uh...its actually 10 out of 12 looking at the chart. San Antonio had fewer than the Knicks and the first Laker team to win it all had fewer than the Pacers. Just wanted to point that out.

The best two defenses in basketball (Spurs and Memphis) already tried to stop Dirk and couldn't. He presents a whole diffrent kind of challenge as far as finding someone to match up on him. Most 7 footers are just simply not fast enough to try and cover him and would foul out trying, the shorter guys are fast enough but no way they can block that fade away jumper. Now I know Dirk isn't the end all but he does present a huge challenge in coverage. You have to just try to contain him and hope he has an off night. That being said the Heat are hell to stop as well if Shaq and Dwayne are on their game, should be a great series. I think Dallas wins on the strength and depth of their bench, but it will go 6 or 7 games. Should be a good series I hope it is another great one like the Mav's and Spurs turned out to be.

I wonder which conference has the most NBA champions to date? The ACC would be a good bet I think. SEC? Big Ten?

I just did an analysis on teams with a Shaq... they're good in the finals too. Miami has 1 Shaq and Dallas doesn't have any Shaqs! I thought dirk should have been the mvp, but still, noone here takin the heat? Shaq is looking young again, and he doesn't have to save anything for after this series. Thats a big fat light at the end of the tunnel for him conditioning wise. he's goin all out. and oh yea... WHOS GONNA GUARD SHAQ?

As a raptor fan, ya just GOTTA cheer for Dallas, Mourning makes me puke every time i see him on the court. i hope someone gives him a shot in the kidneys. The guy is a suck.

Mourning may have made some dick moves, but I bet he has no regrets. He made the right moves for his career.

I like Dallas's defensive strategy.

I dont know, I like the Mavs and really hope Dirk gets a ring. I think Riley may have those guys a little to focused to lose now. I say Heat in 6.

I like Dallas's defensive strategy. Heh. The end's the best: Riley hinted that he was working on a new "Berserk-A-Dirk" defense and, while not offering specifics, hinted that the strategy involved unleashing a rabid, meth-crazed Gary Payton on the Mavericks' star player. WHOS GONNA GUARD SHAQ? It's obvious. Darrell Armstrong. Hell, stick Coya in on him. She'll take him down.

I'm picking Dallas in 6; buuuttt...the Mavs' chances will be better if Shaq plays like Erick Dampier--and if Wade falls down 7 times and doesn't get up 8 times.
