Wrong shoe size the culprit in Mench's painful April:

"Kevin Mench entered Thursday night's game against the Seattle Mariners with zero RBIs in his first 10 games.

Why?

Perhaps because his shoes were too small.

The Texas Rangers right fielder has missed five games this season because of a sprain in the second toe of his right foot... the specialist determined the sprain was caused by Mench's shoes being a half size too small."

Update: That story ran on April 20th, he's got 12 RBI's in his last 4 games.

How does someone go from age 15 to 28 without the thought his feet have grown entering his mind?

How do you get your foot in a shoe that is too small without it hurting like hell?

How does someone go from age 15 to 28 without the thought his feet have grown entering his mind? I've been wearing a size 12 since I was 16 (and I'm over 29 now) and haven't had any problems. Depending on the brand of the shoe, sometimes I can fit in an 11 1/2. My bowling shoe size is like a 10 I think, I'm not sure, it's been awhile. Normally when my shoes feel too small it means I need to trim my toenails.

They needed a specialist to figure that out. I wonder how the team trainers feel right now.

Given that Mench has the largest hat size in MLB, you'd think they'd make sure that all of his other equipment is super-sized as well. As a fantasy owner with Mench in his lineup, I'm THRILLED to see that he's got this problem figured out now.

Thank god it wasn't an issue with his cup size.

As a huge Rangers fan I am glad to see that the little problem is fixed. Right now Mench is on fire. Its amazing how one little thing can bring attention to a player. This might not have even been the problem.. Buck has mixed the line up some. GO RANGERS!!!!

sooner84, you think the lineup was the wrong size, too? "Yeah, it turns out that we were playing with a lineup that was a half-player too small. Kevin is much more comfortable batting with two hands instead of one."

Cramped feet are just the price you pay for having to fill David Dellucci's shoes...

Im not a rangers fan but wearing small size shoes can be very painful I wish him luck during the rest of the season

Prediction: Oakland A's (team batting average of .221) will soon issue clown shoes with cleats to all players. Hey, it couldn't hurt.

This is a good idea. I'm using it. I'm going to be useless at work and blame it on my heels being uncomfortable.

You mean Bonds doesn't have the biggest head? Hard to believe! They had to make hats on special order for Mench. His wears a size 8 hat. His head is bigger than this woman's waist.

Kevin Mench wears heels?

Kevin Mench wears heels? And Keith Hernandez somehow finds that fact totally unremarkable.
