Which leads to the questions of RF and LF. I would love to see Corey Patterson get it together but he loves the high hard one like Sir Elton JOhn, the Queen of Atlanta Ben Grieve looks like a career .250 hitter Jerry Hairston Jr. has played LF and would do okay in the 2 hole. Jose Macias is a .250 guy. Matt Murton, Felix Pie and Dave Kelton or some combo of those guys?

The time is now as they say. Pierre is a great addition to the Cubs roster due to speed and a pretty good ability to hit in the lead-off spot. Patterson proved his inconsistancy over and over again. Sometimes a player just isn't suited for the city he happens to be playing in. Patterson is probably that guy in Wrigley. While Mitre going bye-bye isn't a big deal, as for the other two that Florida gets, as Wrigley South proclaims, hopefully We don't give up future cy-youngs and 20 game winners with them. With that said, then Cubs are seemingly making a push to that "the time is now" mentality by trading younger for older. Also picking the Vibes of Milton Bradley, Abreu, and a couple others. Should be an interesting conclusion to the off-season here in Chicago.

NOT MILTON BRADLEY and I ain't PLAYING. (Get it Milton Bradley, playin'. I kill me sometimes!) Let's get Abreu to play RF. Send Kerry Wood and his rag-arm, no strike throwin' self to Philly

I tend to agree with the analysis of Pierre found here. Best quote: Juan Pierre is basically a more expensive Scott Podsednik without the defense. Grieve has a .367 career OBP, and players who can get on base are exactly what the Cubs need.

Muahhaahaahaha! **cough**cough** Ahem. Man, I hope this isn't a bust. Love those wheels he's got but, yes, I'm also worried about sending a possible pitching stud, or two, away before they even make it up to the majors. The Cubbies sure have a great farm system for pitchers.

This is awesome, Pierre leads the majors in stolen bases the last 5 years with 252, next closest is Ichiro with 192. He also walks 2x for every strikeout and gets on base tons. One of the premier bunters and contact hitters in the modern game. As for Patterson, he is as good as gone, no way is he on the team come opening day. We get Julio Lugo from Tampa to play short and bat second. Hairston is only our utility bench player who can play 2nd and center field. Any thought of Bradley from Dodgers to play right field is absurd he is an unfixable problem. We don't need another headcase on the team. Lugo has some baggage so we don't need to lead the Majors in Restraining Orders. Walkers going to Dodgers in trade, Uturis being hurt sends us a starter like Weaver! Gonna start either Murton in right or Cedeno at 2nd, so no way Baker starts to rookies! As for Ben Grieve he has been released by the Cubs. We have John Mabry as our 4th outfielder. We picked up Eyre and Howry for the Bullpen and resigned Rusch. Really shores up the Bullpen Here's what we need. Left Handed Power Banger Right Fielder Short Stop #2 Hitter Another Starter Just my 2 cents worth as a lifelong Cub Fan!

Ok Wrigs I'll play: CF Pierre 2B Cedeno 1B Lee 3B Ramirez C Barrett LF Mench (In a trade from Texas) SS Julio Lugo (In a trade from Tampa) RF Cliff Floyd (you heard it here 1st) Bench Players Matt Murton, John Mabry, Nefie Perez, Jose Macias, Jerry Hairston Jr. I like my lineup way better than yours. Remeber Henri's got $35 Million to spend based on last years budget minus the Sosa 17 Mill. He spend 4 Mill on Eyre, 4 Mill on Howery, with and some on arbitration and resigns and has abound 20 Mill left after all these trades and signings. Good thing we got some holes! I expect Henris gonna do what he needs to do to start my lineup!

That little fucker is pesky behind the plate. To me a sucsessful lead-off hitter finds any way to get on base and make the opposing pitcher throw as many pitches in the process. Pierre can get up there, keep fouling 'em of, and then work out a walk.

skydivedad, you're not the only one with Lugo on your wish list.

CF Pierre SS Lugo (bye Walker..sorry) 1B Lee 3B Ramirez RF Huff(give Tampa the farm for him) or Cliff Floyd(have heard rumors about this being true) LF Murton (love his bat) 2B Cedeno (no chance at Soriano) C Barrett Anybody think a deal could be worked out that brings Zito aboard?

Sky Dive Dad, I would LOVE to see Cliffy on the NorthSide. Mench I am not REAL high on, but I like Lugo. How do you think we are going to get those three fellows? We lost 3 pitchers today, one is bound to be an All Star, they always are after we trade them (see Hinske and D Train)

Hater my Man, How is the C&C? I agree Walker can go, even though I like him. I would love to get Cliffy over Huff, but you know Huff has got to hate eating 90 per year so he probably has his crap packed and ready to go.

Best quote: Juan Pierre is basically a more expensive Scott Podsednik without the defense. Thats pretty far-fetched. Pierre has better offensive numbers in just about every category. Defensively there not too much different, both are fast, and have mediocre arms. I'll take Pierre over Pods any day. Todd Walker is all but gone now. Cubs picked up his option for the sole purpose to trade him, so scratch him from the lineup. Most likely look for Cedeno to play this year at ss. I have no problem with Murton in left but we need a decent power stick in right. I would rather see Mench than Floyd. Thats all the cubs need is another player who can't stay healthy.

Finally the cubs have settled their ordeal with juan pierre. which i think is a great pick up for them. But that still doesn't solve the pitching injuries they have sustained over the past couple of years. Like there over priced set up man kerri wood. No matter, cubs still finish in third in the central if roger clemens resigns with the astros.

Wrigs don't despair about losing Pinto. It's been 90+years and we have abundant young pitching. Rich Hill, Angel Guzman to name 2. I'm thrilled to get a player of Pierre's caliber, imagine what he can do with the tall grass in Wrigley's infield. We still got 20 million dollars to spend and excellent veteran trade material ie. Todd Walker. It's great to see the Cubs making moves. With my lineup there is absolutely no way the (Choking Cards) are going to beat us by 15-20 Games. The Astros are being held hostage by Roger and they have no offense. So Cheer Up Man, It's our turn!

Hey Wrigs, if you're giving Kerry Wood his walking papers, give him a map to Cincinnati, we'll take him. Then again, we'll take any pitcher. Sean Casey for Williams? Nice move, morons.

I thought Casey was going to be the face of that franchise for the rest of his career (and deservedly so, IMHO). Oh, well, that's what I get for thinkin'.

It's our turn! Maybe some time but not this time. Cubs come in third with or without Clemens signing in Houston.

I thought so, too. You've got a career .300 hitter who is the only consistent player they've got. He's a leader in the clubhouse and does a lot of charity work in the community and not to mention he's just a nice guy and a good role model. Obviously, these things don't mean shit to the Reds front office. I hate to say it, but MY TEAM SUCKS! Hope Casey puts up some good numbers for the Bucs. I'll miss watching him play.

With my lineup there is absolutely no way the (Choking Cards) are going to beat us by 15-20 Games. And now it's "Choking Cards" from a Cubs fan? The Cardinals have choked their way to plenty of success, recently and historically. The Cubs, on the other hand... Oh well, you know the rest.

From one Cub fan to all others...One man {pierre} does not solve this ordeal known as the Cubs. Year after year We all think this will finally be the one for them. I even hear, the Red Sox did it 2 years ago and now the White Sox did it last season so it must be the Cubs turn. RIGHT! Listen, if the Cubs are going to win it all this year or any year, they need to start with a team leader. Derek Lee perhaps. They had nobody leading this team from a leader side of things. They all go out and just move about because no-one leads them. Yes they had an awesome manager with a really good team, but a team needs someone to show them the way. And by the way, as I understand it, there won't be a Lugo, Huff or Floyd creeping about wrigley this year unless they are playing for a team in the national league. I wish as always the Cubs an awesome season and I never give up on them to win it all, but being a realist, I will save my congratulations for late October should they actually accomplish that feat.

Whatever line-up you want to pencil in, they will still be the same old Cubbies! THEY WILL SUCK! If the Cubs want to do the best thing to improve the team, start with Dusty Baker, send him packing ASAP! Next is pitching...Mads is history, Wood is as rusty as the Tinman and Pryor is a walking emergency room patient. OK CUB FANS, UP ON YOUR FEET FOR THE LAST PLACE STRETCH!

The Cubs aren't always destined to be last, they just need a pitcher who is (A) consistently healthy AND (B) Halfway decent. Unfortunately Chicago management has yet to figure out that one must have A AND B to be successful, not just one or the other.

My second favorite teams are the Pirates and the Brewers. Year in and year out one of the two keep the Cubs out of the cellar.

According to an ESPN 1000 radio report, the Cubs have acquired center fielder Juan Pierre from the Marlins for pitchers Sergio Mitre, Ricky Nolasco and Renyel Pinto. Mitre was decent last year, but Nolasco and Pinto were off the hook in AA (for whatever that is worth.) Glad we got Pierre, afraid Pinto will be another Dontrelle Willis
