Rolling Rangers!: Can I get just a little love for my Texas Rangers?

I always keep an eye on the Rangers since they came to be while I was still in high school in Dallas. I was at the old Arlington Stadium the night David Clyde debuted and had good times every time I went. I don't think I really became a baseball fan until I moved to Houston and watched Billy Doran play and because of that the Astros will always be my team (yes, even this year). But good job to the Rangers and good luck to all the fans in the Metroplex!

They have played aces over this last homestand, but they're still missing some pieces if they want to make a good title run. Drese needs to step up and start pitching like he did last year. They probably need at least one if not two more setup men. Another strong RH batter would certainly help things. That said there have been some good surprises this year. Chris Young is pitching *very* well and, if he continues, should be a contender for ROY. The Ho has been much better than expected (although still not worth a fraction of his salary). Kevin Mench and Laynce Nix are both hitting very well. Dellucci as leadoff man has worked great both for him and Fonsi in the five spot. Winning the AL West is easily doable this year, though, esp. if the Angels continue to experience injury problems. It's been a fun season so far. Let's hope it continues.

Everytime I see Mark Texieira on ESPN I curse Dan Duquette under my breath for not signing him after the Sox drafted him. That's a lie: I curse very loudly.

well chris young isnt exactly a rookie he stared about 15 games last year but he is pitiching pretty asewpme Yeah, but he didn't get called up from the minors until after whatever point in time it is that players are still rookies the following season (all star break, maybe?). I do know from all the local media folks that he's eligible this year.

I'm a Yankee fan, but more than that, just a baseball fan, and I really do like watching the Rangers. Their stadium is beautiful, I've always liked their uniforms, and the team has fantastic young talent. Of course I've always liked Alfonso Soriano, but Teixeira, Blaylock, Young, Mench, all those guys can flat-out hit. I also like Francisco Cordero (even though I still confuse him with Frank Francisco). If they can continue to improve in the pitching department, they're definitely a team to reckon with. So, there's your love, graymatters!
