Red Sox fans whine about this one, as they walk to Fenway Park along Brookline Avenue, past a barrage of t-shirts saying "Yankees Suck" and worse? I think my irony meter just broke.

I'm a red sox fan who couldn't care less. In fact, I think its kind of funny. However, you're missing the point. The difference is the 'daddy' tshirt was endorsed and sold on mlb's official site. There's no 'yankees suck' shirt on there. From bambinoscurse.com. On the trash talk, rivalry front, DirtDogs and others are incensed by MLB's "Who's Your Daddy?" T-Shirts. It does seem a bit odd of MLB to do something like this, especially considering there's nothing from the Red Sox fan p.o.v. to balance it out. You know a "Juice Guys" shirt or maybe one showing Steinbrenner in a Darth Vader costume or something.

However, you're missing the point. I didn't miss the point of the MLB endorsement. I just thought it was perhaps a little thin-skinned of the objecting Sox fans, when there are quite a few anti-Yankee shirts out there that are pretty vicious and obscene. So what's the grounds for these Sox fans' objections? Negativity, in which case I wonder if they object equally to the "Yankees Suck" shirts)? Or do they just want an official MLB-endorsed "Yankees Suck" shirt?

Any MLB-endorsed anti-Yankee shirt would suffice for me.

those anti-yankee shirts aren't endorsed by MLB. and from what i've heard they're trying to keep the "yankees sucks" shirts out of fenway (just as they do the "boston sucks" shirts at the stadium). leave this shit to the vendors on river ave. at least from what i've seen they have the sense enough to only address pedro (who made the comment in reference to himself) and not the entire team. i don't blame sox fans for being pissed about it. if things were the other way around and MLB had a shirt referring to kevin brown's "hulk mad" moment, yankees fans would be just as incensed (i know i would be fairly pissed). but if some mook along brookline wants to make one up himself and sell it, that's fine with me. just as i have no problem with the mooks in the bronx doing their thing. although i could do with the "your team sucks" on both sides.

Its know different than the NFL handing out fines for illeagal hits and turn and Allowing them to be used in hilight shows. You have got to keep up that"hard hitting rep".!

My favorite anti-Yankee shirt (seen at Skydome the last weekend of the season): "Jeter sucks A Rod". I hope this series goes seven classic games and features as many poor taste t-shirts on Fox as the screen will fit.

w00t! I've got Thursday off so I can watch the first game of the Championship Series on Wednesday night (and recover from my Azerbaijan v England hangover). I trust I can rely on you fellows to resist posting spoilers beforehand if the game is an "as live" delayed broadcast. Go Red Sox.

"Jeter sucks A Rod" Yeah, on Landsdowne I've seen "Jeter Sucks" backed with "A-Rod Swallows". None of them compare to the "What Would Johnny Damon Do?" shirts with said player's beatific mug on the front.

I made a shirt up which has a pic of The Babe with his Sox uniform on,which simply says...'REMEMBER??' Gets Sox fans every time....

People who distinguish between 'official' MLB merchandise and other sources really make me laugh. I'm with daddisamm, look at all the peeps who buy the official, violence condoned sports games. Pedro said it and so they decided to have a little fun, where's the harm? No one on either team actually said "Yankees suck" or "Red Sox suck." Lighten up.

Err, you'll say that right up until you buy one of those shirts outside Fenway and wind up with three cases of the clap. Applause, even.

Well, if you get rid of your TV right now, you might still have a chance. Run to your local Starbucks, tell the barista, "Barry Goldwater was the greatest thing to happen to pop music," and Bob's your mother's brother. You'll be in the Hipster Parade in no time.

It's a bit brash for MLB to actually license it, granted there's nothing obscene in it so we can't criticize it for that standard. But, you'd figure they'd maybe make an appropriate shirt for Sox fans and position the two together. Maybe a "Wake up the damn bambino and I'll drill him in the a**" shirt. I mean they're both classic Pedro. btw, So long as Tim McCarver isn't wearing one these shirts tonight...which is entirely possible, I'm sure the situation will move along.

Sooner or later, Major League Baseball will figure out that they can make serious bucks on rivalry shirts. Until then, I applaud the shady street vendors for spreading a little ill will.

On Monday, Boston.com invited fans to submit their own Sox-Yanks T-shirt ideas. By late afternoon, the site had received more than 600 responses with suggested pro-Sox, anti-Yankee slogans -- many of them referring to this season’s Yankees-Red Sox brawls, the Yankees' hefty payroll and other sore spots.
