Virtus Bologna Barred from Italian League.: I'm not quite sure why they didn't opt to pay Sani but all the same this is a shocker. For you NBA draftniks this is the same team which brought you Rasho Nesterovic, Marko Jaric, Antoine Rigadeau and Manu Ginobili. Will this effect the Euroleague? Will Vujanic and Skipper Bologna lead the Italian League? Or will Edney and Benetton?

Bologna? LOL.

Seems silly to be fighting over a seemingly small amount given the potential revenue loss of missing games until this is resolved; the whole nose/face thing. OTOH, lilnemo, sorry but I wouldn't even begin to speculate on how it would impact Euroleague or Italy given that I have no clue about either. When it comes to Europe, I'm a one sport man!

billsaysthis, I would hazard a guess that most members are bigger euro-soccer fans than euro-basketball fans. But I aim to give a little exposure to the playas on the other side of the pond. It's almost funny. We love European soccer, but hate their basketball. Europeans love our basketball, and hate our soccer. Go Figure.

What are you laughing at, worldcup2002?

Our basketball = good, theirs = bad Our soccer = bad, theirs = good ???

All basketball = good All soccer = bad (unless played indoors and with dasher boards) !!! Bologna. Man, you HAVE to laugh at that.

Please, enlighten me. Why do I have to laugh at Bologna?

The scourge of children's lunchboxes. Surely you have it across the pond?

Oh that's hilarious, mbd1. So Bologna is famous for it's beef. Parma is famous for it's ham. The Champagne region of France is famous for a certain sparkling wine. Cheddar in south-west England is famous for it's cheese. Remind me again which American cities are renowned for their local produce? Regarding the snobbery of European basketball and American soccer, it seems that neither side should crow too loudly. The Americans only finished 5th in the last basketball world cup, while the US soccer team reached the last 8 of the soccer world cup.

Remind me again which American cities are renowned for their local produce? Hey, we've got Milwaukee, St. Louis, Golden, Raineer, San Luis Obispo...wait, is beer a produce?

You know, Sal, I don't know what American cities are famous for produce. I guess that begs the question — is it a good thing to be known as the home of the meat that contains lips and asses?

American beer.... BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!! *snigger*

Watch American soccer. Watch Euro basketball. And eat your "Lips and Ass sandwich".

Is this a bad day, or have you always been a troll, salmacis? Maybe it's just a misunderstanding. Bologna is equated with Spam in the U.S., if you don't believe me, read the wfrazerjr interview's left turn into bologna-land. Now imagine a team called "Virtus Spam." Sorta funny, huh?

Well in the UK (and indeed, the rest of the world), Bologna is associated with being a major Italian city. Understand, dusted?

Of course I understand, and I'm sure wc2k and wfrazerjr do too. I've never been to the city myself, but I've visited Italy numerous times, and I speak Italian fer crissakes. You're being way too touchy about this. Relax!
