If he damaged a protected computer system then it obviously wasn't.

That's the funniest thing I've read all day, Wile E. Good point. Well, I guess this is a case of what did the guy know when he did it. If he was smart enough to use a repetitive e-mail program, I have to think he knew he would wreak havoc on the other end and cause financial damage. Having said that, good for him. Who in God's name would rather watch Red Sox baseball than NASCAR?!? ;)

This is a pretty funny story, but it sets kind of a dangerous precedent. Yeah, he sent a lot of e-mails (530,000!) but can you really prosecute someone for "intent to damage a protected computer system" for that? Seems like kind of a sketchy result to me.
