Houllier blames Dudek for a couple of games...replaces him with Kirkland....how many games have Liverpool won since he put Dudek on the bench!?!?!

Where's the checkbook, Houllier? It's the dark days of Liverpool (popup) and Gerard has already given up the chase. Look what everyone else is doing:

Arsenal lead the Premiership by five points after squeezing by Chelsea 3-2 in a closely-contested London derby between the top two teams in the league. Manchester United stole into second spot thanks to a last-gasp 2-1 win over Sunderland, in a match where Man U scored all the goals, including a last-minute winner from Scholes and a Juan Veron own goal. Meanwhile, my beloved Liverpool broke their string of three successive draws by losing to Newcastle 1-0, courtesy of a deflected freekick by journalist-puncher Laurent Robert. Liverpool continue their descent in the table by slipping into seventh. They have now collected four out of a possible 30 points in the last 10 games (that's six losses and four draws). When will the agony end? Well, at least they got to play. Charlton v West Ham and Fulham v WBA were postponed due to heavy rain. But forget the games! January is shopping month, as the EPL mid-season transfer window opens and teams begin the horse-trading frenzy to shore up broken teams and find the missing link in their bid for glory (or survival). More linkage: (btw, Soccernet debuted a brighter and cleaner site design at Christmas)
